Our wool is mulesing-free.Our Rug Pads are made of 100% pre-consumer recycled fiber.&#xA0;Our approach to our materials is one that considers our impact across the board, including ethical production, carbon impact, durability, and end-of-life considerations. We are continuously considering our practices and working to improve the practices of the furniture industry with every step we take. While we do not claim to be perfect, we believe every improvement we make is a step towards a better, kinder, and more enduring future for our planet.We chose to utilize wool after considering a variety of factors. Wool is a renewable material that has been used for thousands of years that is naturally fireproof, incredibly durable, temperature-regulating, biodegradable, and recyclable. It is the best of both worlds in terms of being able to break down if needed but is also long-lasting and resistant if continued to be used. While there are inhumane practices utilized within the wool industry, particularly within the Merino wool industry, this is not true of the entire industry and we have chosen to work with farms that utilize sustainable and ethical practices. Additionally, the emission of greenhouse gases from wool production can be offset on the farm level through land management practices.

It is both GRS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. They&apos;re washed in a high-temperature detergent water, separated by material type, and in the case of our velvet the PET and similar plastics are chopped up, melted down, and made into thin strands to make the fabric.Our Recycled Velvet is disperse dyed, meaning the threads are dyed, then the fabric is made. Our dying manufacturer is OEKO TEX 100 Certified.&#xA0;All of our fabrics are pet-friendly and easy to clean, but we would recommend the Velvet for cats! The reason is the Poly has a larger weave and cats can get their claws stuck in that weave a bit easier. We do recommend keeping the cat&apos;s nails trimmed with either fabric though. For dogs, it really doesn&apos;t matter and is a personal preference.ColorsIndigo, Seafoam, Moss, Dusty Rose, Mustard, Amber, Chocolate, Ash.Velvet Cleaning &amp; CareOur Recycled Velvet fabric can be cleaned with gentle household cleaning products. This fabric can also be machine washed on delicate with cold water and then air dried or tumble dried with no heat.<h1 id="upcycled-poly">Upcycled Poly</h1>Our Upcycled Poly fabric is made from 100% Olefin, a byproduct of refining petroleum. It has a double-rub count of 75,000. The yarn is inherently stain-repellent and therefore has not had any chemical treatments. While synthetic, this fabric actually performs better than many natural fibers on the Higg Index as it does not require any land or water to be produced (including in the dyeing process). Our Upcycled Poly fabric is Greenguard Gold certified. Made in the USA.Our Upcycled Poly is disperse dyed, meaning the threads are dyed, then the fabric is made. Our dying manufacturer is OEKO TEX 100 Certified.&#xA0;ColorsOat, Farro, Midnight, Moon, Shadow.Poly Cleaning &amp; CareOur Upcycled Poly fabric is inherently stain-resistant and can be cleaned with household cleaning products, including a bleach solution, without being damaged. Most general house cleaners will work, as long as they are NOT solvent-based (most are not). We recommend spraying and dabbing all the way to the seams to avoid any water rings from drying. Alternatively, you can also hand wash with cold water and air dry - no heat. Do not iron our Upcycled Poly.Upcycled Poly bleach SolutionMost stains can be removed by making a solution of 1 ounce of bleach to 30 ounces of water in a clean spray bottle (Most spray bottles are 32 ounces). If possible, place a clean towel behind the fabric to absorb any excess moisture. Set the nozzle to &#x201C;fan&#x201D; the spray pattern and wet out the entire side of the cover where the stain is. Then wipe the entire cover with a clean cloth to remove any excess moisture. Spray the same area with clean water to rinse the bleach solution out of the fabric. Again, wipe the entire cover with a clean cloth to remove any excess moisture. Allow the cover to air dry.<h1 id="hemp">Hemp</h1>Our 100% Natural Hemp is currently offered only for our Evergreen Collection. Our hemp supplier works only with their own manufacturing facilities or facilities where careful audit, land and standing relationships ensure that standards are met. Only EU-approved dyes and chemicals are used in the dying and finishing. Our Hemp has a rub count of 12,000 rubs.&#xA0;Currently, the Hemp is offered only in slipcovers for the Evergreen Collection, as the fabric is 100% Natural with no stain-resistant treatments. It is not as inherently stain-resistant as the Recycled Velvet or Upcycled Poly, so it is offered in slipcovers for easy removal and cleaning. For stains, treat immediately by dabbing with warm water, and dab to the seams to avoid rings when dried. Our Dog Beds are constructed using a fill called Kapok, which is then wrapped in a waterproof cotten liner, and then the Hemp or Velvet cover on top.Kapok is a natural occurring fibre that grows from seed pods on the Kapok tree. The material has a small footprint, the trees grow for many years without human intervention like pesticides or fertilizer, allowing it to be a renewable resource. Compared to cotton that requires lots of water and energy, there is little post-processing of the kapok material once it is harvested.
