We offer a selection of natural, recycled fabrics to create beautiful and sustainable seating. You may pick up some of our swatches here to get a feel for the fabrics in person before making your decision. 

Recycled Velvet

Our Recycled Velvet fabric is made with 100% post-consumer recycled water bottles and it is inherently stain-resistant. It is both GRS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. Our Velvet has a double-rub count of 30,000.

The water bottles go through a cleaning process before being processed into fabric to remove any harmful chemicals. They're washed in a high-temperature detergent water, separated by material type, and in the case of our velvet the PET and similar plastics are chopped up, melted down, and made into thin strands to make the fabric.

Our Recycled Velvet is disperse dyed, meaning the threads are dyed, then the fabric is made. Our dying manufacturer is OEKO TEX 100 Certified. 

All of our fabrics are pet-friendly and easy to clean, but we would recommend the Velvet for cats! The reason is the Poly has a larger weave and cats can get their claws stuck in that weave a bit easier. We do recommend keeping the cat's nails trimmed with either fabric though. For dogs, it really doesn't matter and is a personal preference.

Velvet Cleaning & Care

Our Recycled Velvet fabric can be cleaned with gentle household cleaning products. If possible, place a clean towel behind the fabric to absorb any excess moisture. We recommend spraying and dabbing all the way to the seams to avoid any water rings from drying. This fabric can also be machine washed on delicate with cold water and then air dried or tumble dried with no heat.

Upcycled Poly

Our Upcycled Poly fabric is made from 100% Olefin, a byproduct of refining petroleum. It has a double-rub count of 75,000. The yarn is inherently stain-repellent and therefore has not had any chemical treatments. While synthetic, this fabric actually performs better than many natural fibers on the Higg Index as it does not require any land or water to be produced (including in the dyeing process). Our Upcycled Poly fabric is Greenguard Gold certified. Made in the USA.

Our Upcycled Poly is disperse dyed, meaning the threads are dyed, then the fabric is made. Our dying manufacturer is OEKO TEX 100 Certified.

Poly Cleaning & Care

Our Upcycled Poly fabric is inherently stain-resistant and can be cleaned with household cleaning products, including a bleach solution, without being damaged. Most general house cleaners will work, as long as they are NOT solvent-based (most are not). We recommend spraying and dabbing all the way to the seams to avoid any water rings from drying. Alternatively, you can also hand wash with cold water and air dry - no heat. Do not iron our Upcycled Poly.

Upcycled Poly bleach Solution

Most stains can be removed by making a solution of 1 ounce of bleach to 30 ounces of water in a clean spray bottle (Most spray bottles are 32 ounces). If possible, place a clean towel behind the fabric to absorb any excess moisture. Set the nozzle to “fan” the spray pattern and wet out the entire side of the cover where the stain is. Then wipe the entire cover with a clean cloth to remove any excess moisture. Spray the same area with clean water to rinse the bleach solution out of the fabric. Again, wipe the entire cover with a clean cloth to remove any excess moisture. Allow the cover to air dry.

Hemp

Our 100% Natural Hemp is currently offered only for our Evergreen Collection. Our hemp supplier works only with their own manufacturing facilities or facilities where careful audit, land and standing relationships ensure that standards are met. Only EU-approved dyes and chemicals are used in the dying and finishing. Our Hemp has a rub count of 12,000 rubs. 

Currently, the Hemp is offered only in slipcovers for the Evergreen Collection, as the fabric is 100% Natural with no stain-resistant treatments. It is not as inherently stain-resistant as the Recycled Velvet or Upcycled Poly, so it is offered in slipcovers for easy removal and cleaning. If we do offer this in other collections down the road, it will most likely be in the form of slipcovers as well!

Striped Hemp Blend

Our Striped Hemp blend is 55% Hemp and 45% Cotton. The Striped Hemp Blend is available as upholstery and slipcovers for the Evergreen Chair and Ottoman, and as upholstery for the Elevate Chair and Ottoman. It is offered only as slipcovers for the Essential Club Chair and Ottoman. Our hemp supplier works only with their own manufacturing facilities or facilities where careful audit, land and standing relationships ensure that standards are met. Only EU-approved dyes and chemicals are used in the dying and finishing. Our Hemp has a rub count of 12,000 rubs.

Hemp and Striped Hemp Blend Cleaning & Care

Our hemp and hemp blend slipcovers can be machine-washed gently with cold water. Do not bleach and wash only with similar colors. Lay flat to air dry, do not tumble dry to avoid the possibility of shrinkage or fraying. The upholstered Striped Hemp Blend pieces can be spot-cleaned with a gentle detergent and cold water. Do not use bleach or any acidic cleaners. For stains, treat immediately by dabbing with warm water, and dab to the seams to avoid rings when dried. Ironing and steaming are okay on low heat to reduce wrinkles, be sure not to leave the heat on one spot for too long and move continuously. 

MINNA Fabric

Introducing the MINNA x SABAI Sol Collection, this collection offers a vibrant array of fabrics designed in three distinctive patterns and three stunning colorways. This collection offers a delightful mix-and-match approach, woven in partnership with skilled artisans in Guatemala on traditional wooden pedal looms, each piece is crafted from 100% cotton. The MINNA fabric is available for the Evergreen Chair, Evergreen Ottoman, and our square pillow.

Cleaning & Caring for your MINNA Fabric

Our MINNA Fabric slipcovers can be machine-washed on a delicate/gentle cycle with cold water. After washing, lay flat to air-dry. Do not bleach and wash only with similar colors. For spot cleaning, dampen the stained area with cold water using a clean white cloth. Leave the spot damp for 10-15 minutes and then gently blot with a dry wipe or with a cloth from both sides to draw out the stain. Avoid using any bleach or acidic cleaners, as they can damage the fabric.
