Our seating is 100% vegan. 

Fabrics: 

1. Recycled Velvet: Sabai's Recycled Velvet fabric is made with 100% post-consumer recycled water bottles. It is both GRS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. This fabric is made in China as that is where the majority of recycling occurs.

Upcycled Poly: Sabai's Upcycled Poly fabric is made from 100% Olefin, a byproduct of refining petroleum. The yarn is inherently stain-repellent and therefore has not had any chemical treatments, and can be cleaned with household cleaning products (including bleach) without being damaged. While synthetic, this fabric actually performs better than many natural fibers on the Higg index as it does not require any land or water to be produced (including in the dyeing process). Our upcycled poly fabric is Greenguard Gold certified. Made in the USA.

 Hemp Blend: 55% Hemp and 45% Cotton Hemp Blend material. 
 Striped Hemp Blend: 55% Hemp and 45% Cotton Hemp Blend material. 
Cactus Leather: Sabai’s Cactus Leather fabric is made from 40% Prickly Pear Cactus Skin, 60% bio-based polymer, and 100% recycled cotton backing. Bio-polymer is made from waste material from cactus food industry. It is REACH compliant, PETA-approved vegan, USDA-certified organic. Uses water-based adhesives. 60% of the material is biodegradable and contains 0% plastics.

Our fabrics have not been treated to avoid harmful chemicals and off-gassing. 

Materials: 90% of our materials are sourced within 100 miles of our NC and TN factories.

Frame: SFI-certified plywood that is nontoxic and manufactured in NC. The frame construction uses a non-VOC glue that is non-toxic and solvent-free.

Legs: Wood legs made from maple scrapwood.

Cushions: Made with CertiPUR-US certified high resiliency foam. No flame retardants.

Back Pillows: Stuffed with recycled polyester fiber. 

Upholstery: In place of polyester upholstery fiber to soften the plywood frame, Cocolok is used. It is a mix of coconut fiber and a natural rubber material.
Mattress Topper: The Mattress Topper is made from Arpico latex and is a Certified Organic Dunlop latex and is OEKO-TEX certified.

Frame: Purebond Plywood that is 100% wood veneer plywood that uses food-safe soy-based glue. While it is not "zero" VOC due to natural wood chemistry, emissions are reduced by 90% compared to standard plywood. No added formaldehyde. The mill our supplier sources from regularly tests for emissions and has a CARB/EPA TSCA Certification. Products that achieve CARB or TSCA certification are verified by a third party to comply with the formaldehyde emissions standards that are required for composite wood products to be sold in California and required by the EPA for products sold in the United States.
Legs: Wood legs made from maple scrapwood.
Cushions: Made with Latex. The Latex is made from sustainably harvested rubber tree sap, a renewable carbon sequestering resource, that is free from harmful chemicals while being naturally resistant to mold and dust mites. The material is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meets Global Organic Latex Standard 3.0, and has a Fair for Life certificate, the most stringent Fair Trade certification.
Back Pillows: Made from Shredded Latex. The Shredded Latex is made from sustainably harvested rubber tree sap, a renewable carbon sequestering resource, that is free from harmful chemicals while being naturally resistant to mold and dust mites.
Upholstery: Cocolok is used. This coconut fiber is a food-industry byproduct, and producing Cocolok generates up to 79% less CO₂ than polyurethane foam. The material is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.
Mattress Topper: The Mattress Topper is made from Arpico latex, which is Certified Organic Dunlop latex and OEKO-TEX certified.
